Good news. Martin Wallin and I got a paper accepted in the forthcoming special issue in Research Policy honoring David J. Teece’s seminal 1986 paper. Using network analysis we show that some sofware firms sponsor individuals to act strategically within a free and open source software community. We conclude that some firm managers believe they need ‘a man on the inside’ to be able to gain access to communities.
